The 2008 Ping Rapture V2 Irons are a game improvement club, primarily designed and made for the mid to high handicap golfer.
While they perhaps may not be the nicest looking golf clubs ever made. The Rapture V2 Irons are meant to make the game of golf as easy as possible.
Graphite and steel shaft options are available, with the models we put into practice being fitted with AWT steel shafts in stiff flex.
More information on the shafts available, and the specifications for the Rapture V2 Irons can be found at the Ping Golf website.
Along with not sporting the best looking graphics ever, the clubs are admittedly a bit big and chunky looking at address as well, which can be a tad off putting to some players.
However all you need to do is take one shot with one of these clubs, and you probably wont feel uncomfortable standing over a Ping Rapture V2 Iron ever again. They will be one of the easiest clubs to hit you could ever try.
These irons can make high handicappers look like mid handicappers, and mid handicappers look like competent low handicap players. This really isn't an exaggeration.
Almost every shot with these irons all through the set goes dead straight, whether it was a good swing or a bad swing. The Rapture V2 Irons really are one of the most forgiving and easiest to hit irons you can buy just now.
Not only do these irons give great forgiveness, but the effortless distance is rather impressive to. You don't have to hit the ball hard or really go at it to get some good distance. So while not being the absolute longest irons on the market, they definitely have plenty.
While it may not be an issue with most mid to high handicappers, working the ball is still possible with these clubs, despite the great forgiveness.
You would need to be a competent player who knows what they are doing, but the Rapture V2 Irons do provide a reasonable amount of versatility in the right hands.
Ball flight through-out the whole set is generally on the high side, as is usually the case in game improvement irons. Good for playing approach shots to tricky pin placements, but maybe a slight disadvantage taking on longer shots on windier days.
So for a general over-view, the Ping Rapture V2 Irons are perfect for the target audience. They would definitely be a great iron set for a beginner or a senior golfer in particular.
If you can get past the chunky design and the rather unattractive graphics. These are possibly the easiest to hit irons you could ever hold in your hands.
As of 2012 the Ping Rapture V2 Irons tend to sell for around £270 or $428 for the steel shaft models, and around £350 or $555 for the graphite shaft versions.
