The 2007 version of the TaylorMade Burner Driver features a large, advanced bullet shaped 460cc club head. Along with some striking colours, which make this a golf club that can't help but grab your attention.
The club comes fitted with a Super Fast RE*AX 50g graphite shaft, which is what we used in regular flex, and this shaft seemed to work very well with the club in terms of creating good club head speed.
However something to note is that this shaft is an inch longer than most standard Driver shafts, like with many drivers though, other shafts are of course available for the 2007 Burner if you wish to get properly fitted.
The lofts available are 9.5 and 10.5 degree, with both being available in left and right hand. We tested the 10.5 degree neutral version although a draw version is available for those who like a bit of extra help to keep the golf ball from going right.
Performance wise we found that this TaylorMade Burner Driver generally seems to give more to a player in terms of accuracy than in distance.
The distance you can get is still pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Though this isn't really much of an issue, because you are quite likely to find the fairway more often than not when you hit a drive with this club.
Consistently producing a medium ball flight almost every time, this club was also very easy to hit, even beginners and higher handicappers should be able to get their drives up and away with this Driver.
Also for players who like to work the golf ball quite a lot on their drives, the 2007 Burner is a driver that we definitely found a bit easier to draw than fade.
This was just with the neutral model, it took quite a bit of effort to get a decent fade, where as a nice draw appeared to be a lot easier to achieve.
But generally speaking though this Burner is a relatively forgiving and straight driver. Even though as mentioned it's not overly difficult to shape your drives with the club,
If you're someone who doesn't like being in the rough when hitting your approach shots, which is all of us, then this is a pretty reliable club to have in your bag. We would recommend the Burner 2007 Driver to any level of golfer to try out.
And right now isn't a bad time to have a look at this TaylorMade Burner Driver, with prices having come down a bit of late. 2012 prices are generally around £70 or $111.
